Sonya Syers Federon

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Hey there! My name is Sonya Syers Federon. I am a graduate of Alliant International University with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have a passion for assisting individuals, couples, and families with unpacking negative life experiences, hurts, and insecurities, that have affected the opportunity to live the best life possible. From poor communication to childhood brokenness, I am passionate about going deeper into helping to untangle the root cause of unfavorable behaviors and providing support in better understanding the connections between cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning.

Being an African American therapist, I strive to respect the cultural and traditional practices of all parties involved while collaboratively creating the best plan for the future. I am dedicated to both supporting and providing my clients through their journey of better understanding the how’s, why’s, and why nots of life by offering alternative options, and new approaches for resolving wounds that have not had the opportunity to heal.

Through my integrative approach toward a healthier more balanced existence, I incorporate aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and techniques to assist in coping with emotional triggers. It is my hope that the normalization of mental health assistance will soon become more acceptable allowing the freedom for everyone to feel comfortable in reaching out for support. Because of this hope, I want to congratulate you on your courage in taking the first step toward healing!
