Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
BA, MA
I am an African American Associates Marriage and Family Therapist. I have completed my BA in Special Education with 13 years of teaching experience. I have earned my MA in counseling and have 15 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups.
I have a great passion for helping young and adult women who suffer from depression, and low self-worth. I have a strong spiritual background and have 12 years of experience working as a Christian Counselor with individuals, and families struggling with depression, fear, and little self-autonomy.
Although I primarily work from a Narrative/Solution Focused Therapy model, I also focus on (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Insight Orientation, and Brownian Therapy Models for treatment.
I offer support to those dealing with the emotional challenges that are Covid – 19 related and help you explore resiliency and develop goals toward coping with the new challenges that have come from this new transition.
I do work to help children and adults develop self-esteem, explore individuality, develop personal autonomy, build hope, and develop support systems to establish new coping mechanisms.
I am passionate about self-care and am committed to being aware of the impact that my personal biases and privileges can have on the therapeutic relationship so that I remain open and give the best care to all client’s identities. I am also committed to actively listening to become aware of each client’s concerns. I am committed to making sure that I am providing culturally competent therapy.
I am involved in LGBTQ issues and enjoy helping individuals, couples, and families who are dealing with challenges associated with gender. I am also involved in issues regarding homelessness and immigrant children at the border.
